Out of Love
We see love, we touch it with our hand in Out of Love. Nikolai and Varya meet and recognize each other, but this is not enough. True love can not shy away from confrontation, from the fight. They put into play themselves, and their own ways of being, with their frailties, fears and needs. Feeding each other in a complete and absolute way is not easy. The first work by Paloma Aguilera Valdebenito reflects, with mature introspection, the happiness and despair of a relationship between two people in a continuous and perpetual balance between intensity and defeat. The impossibility of commitment, the awareness that no one else we meet will be like the person we are losing, is the heartbreaking truth that this film gives us.

About the director
Paloma Aguilera Valdebenito (Amsterdam, 1982) moves to Paris at the age of eighteen to attend the drama school “Acting International” where she graduates as an actress a few years later.
In 2005 she returns to Amsterdam to study at the Netherlands Film Academy. She graduates as a writer/director with the short film Stay, Away (O.T.: Bliff Bij Me, Weg) which receives several awards at international film festivals and gets nominated for Best European Short at the European Film Awards 2010. In 2011 she writes and directs the 50 minutes film Entre Nosotros which wins the Fipa d’Argent at the FIPA international Film Festival in Biarritz and gets nominated for the Best Debut Award at the Netherlands Film Festival. In 2012 she attends the Binger writers lab with her first feature film project OUT OF LOVE. Recently Paloma directed single play Para for Dutch television. Besides writing and directing Paloma is working as an actress. She lives and works in Amsterdam and Paris.
